Freedom as defined by service

Posted June 20th, 2008 by christian

Freedom.  Most Americans might think of Old Glory.

Paradox.  Being a true servant produces the greatest freedom.

I served in the USMC.  Because of my service and the services of others like me, I live in a free country.

I am a Christian.  Because I am a bond-servant to Christ, I am free from the law.  Service to and love of others is freedom from selfishness.  Selfishness destroys, depresses, and spreads like disease.

Service to my family (wife and kids) leaves me free of the pain of loneliness, free from STDs, free in a way that only someone who sits in his own back yard, looking at his own house, knowing that his own family is provided for can understand.

Freedom is still worth dying for.
